Curtis D. Schmidt, DDS

Dr. Curtis D. Schmidt is the practice’s specialist, providing oral and maxillofacial surgery services including wisdom tooth removal and dental implant placement.

He is a retired Colonel, having served 27 years in the U.S. Army. His military career began in 1996 as an infantryman. He completed multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and more than five years of foreign service.

Surgical career

Dr. Schmidt has been training surgical residents since 2009 and has served as adjunctive faculty at the University of Florida School of Dentistry. He held positions as Chief and Theatre Consultant for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Iraq and Afghanistan, served as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center, and retired as Chairman of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center.

He has specialized training in maxillofacial trauma, reconstruction, cleft and craniofacial surgery, wisdom tooth removal, and comprehensive dental reconstruction with implant placement.

Credentials

Dr. Schmidt completed 14 years of post-secondary education. He is board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery, and by the National Dental Board of Anesthesia, and has been appointed an Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

Having a surgeon of this background in the same practice that restores the case means implant and extraction treatment is planned by the surgeon and the restoring dentist together, rather than passed between two offices.
